"Pulser-less" CDi/pick-up repair
The problem: B & C models of the 360/400 DTs have a black plastic trigger pick-up that is known to be unreliable and finding NOS replacements is difficult. The problem is further complicated as the CDi can partially fail and it is extremely difficult to tell which one is causing the problem (even for us). This is why we will not supply a direct replacement CDi unit as all too often replacing just the CDi does not fully cure running problems. Customers became dissatisfied if a new CDi did not fix things as they then faced having to try and find a rare and expensive replacement trigger pick-up.
The solution: Rex's now manufacture a CDi unit that runs "pulser-less" IE without needing any trigger pick-up coil. The advantage of doing so is twofold, first you get a brand new CDi unit and secondly you no longer need the problem trigger pick-up. No other changes to the charging or electrical system are needed, even the HT coils stays the same!
The down side is you must set the timing using a strobe lamp and you need the back plate of the generator machined to elongate the adjustment slots. If you are able to do this work, this is an extremely neat and reliable solution.
We offer the export kit for sale in our shop, this comes with the CDi, a timing index and full instructions for the work to be done in a local machine shop. The machining needed is so simple could be done with a pillar drill or round file by a resourceful and skilled person, if you send your generator to us we would do it on the milling machine. The export kit is £99.95, if you send us your generator we charge an additional £40+VAT to machine the slots and remove the troublesome pick-up.
(We are working on our 12 volt replacement electronic ignition kit for these machines, this is a complete up-grade and will be available later in 2017. New kits will feature no timing to adjust, single curve systems and optional handle bar switch selectable timing curves. They will be available in ignition only and 12 volt lighting versions)

We are currently looking for running DT250/360/400 machines in standard trim to carry out final testing and fitting checks of the next generation of electronic ignition & 12 volt conversion kits.
The next generation of kits bolt straight on, with no ignition timing to set up. The purpose of this excersise is to check the fitting on as many different models as possible.
We are looking for bikes with points and factory CDi. Owners must be able to deliver them to our workshops and collect them prompty once the checks are done. Owners who assist will recieve a basic system free of charge.
