Company Terms and Conditions
“The company” refers to Powder Mill Electronics Ltd
“The customer” refers to the person, firm or company purchasing goods or service from the company
The “goods” and/or “services” means the the goods and/or services that the company is contracted to supply to the customer in accordance with these terms and conditions.
A “working day” means any day other than a Saturday, Sunday or English public (bank) holiday.

You may place a distance or “off premises” order by:
1. Visiting our online web store and selecting products you want. These items are added to your basket, then following the ‘check out’ process for submitting an order (see below on how to do this) and clicking the appropriate confirmation button. You can complete this either as a guest with no need to create and account or after logging into or creating your personal account In both cases the same terms and conditions are applicable. You will be asked only for the information we required to process your order such as name, address and delivery address. We have no access to the secure payment process, beyond being able to check for successful or unsuccessful payments and do not store your payment details. We aim to process the order within the same working day subject to being received during our opening times. Our current operating times are 9.00am to 17.00pm Monday to Friday (not including Bank Holidays). 2. Telephoning us on our order line, the details of which can be found on the ‘Contact Us’ page on our website, adverts and company letter heads and invoices. We aim to process the order within the same working day subject to being received during our opening times.
3. Emailing your order request to us at: email@example.com. We aim to process the order within the same working day subject to being received during our opening times.
4. Posting your order request to our address “Rex’s Speed Shop” Unit 1, Russet Farm, Redlands Lane, Robertsbridge, East Sussex, TN32 5NG, UK. We aim to process the order within the same working day.
Note, as a small family company, occasionally there may not be staff available to process your order immediately. We always do our best to get to your orders as quickly as we can.
By placing an order request, you make us an offer to purchase the Goods you have selected in accordance with our standard Terms & Conditions. At this stage we will discuss with the customer any shortages or additional lead times. We will than issue an order acceptance. We may or may not accept your order request at our sole discretion.
These Terms & Conditions will become binding on you and us when we issue you with written or verbal (if placed by telephone) acceptance of your order. The order confirmation is our notification to you that we have accepted your order request. Should your payment be declined or not made we reserve the right to reject your order. If Goods you have selected are not available or because of issues with your payment we will attempt to contact you by e-mail or telephone in order to resolve any outstanding issues.
To obtain a durable copy of our terms and conditions, go the bottom of this page, there is “print” button, by pressing this you have the option of printing out a copy or saving a copy to your own computer. A PDF file for example, constitutes a durable medium.
Cancelling “distance” orders
Customers resident in the UK and the EU have the right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 to cancel your order up to 14 days from when you receive the goods without needing to give a reason. This provision allows you to inspect the goods in the same manner as if you had physically visited our shop.
In this case the customer is responsible for all costs in returning the goods and ensuring that the goods are received by us in exactly the same condition as they were sent. We reserve the right to make a deduction where the goods are not in the same condition or not received.
Refund of shipping costs
Where goods are returned we will only refund the cost of the most basic method of sending goods. Generally we used enhanced delivery methods to send goods to the customer, to ensure they arrive on time and in good condition. This service is distinctly different to the most basic service.
Exemptions to the right to cancel
Customers residing outside the UK and the EU do not have the right to cancel an order or return goods under this legislation.
Where a security seal has been removed or broken the item cannot be returned. For reasons of safety such items cannot be returned. This includes ignition units and other parts that affect the safe operation or performance of the machine.
Goods bought in person, face to face from our place of business, or any place that we have rented or are attending on a temporary basis for the purpose of retail selling and where the customer is given the opportunity to inspect the goods in person, are not returnable under Consumer Contracts regulations. We may agree, at our own discretion and on a case by case basis to accept returns under these circumstances.
Any goods sold at public auction by our company cannot be returned under this legislation.
Any goods below £42 in value cannot be returned under this legislation.
Any goods that are built to customer order, or are a bespoke build or have been modified or altered to suit a customer’s requirement. For example wires cut to length or specially made parts cannot be cancelled once the order has been accepted under this legislation.
The company shall bear no liability for loss, damage or delay howsoever arising by a Force Majeure event and in these circumstances may suspend or cancel the whole or part of any delivery or order. The company will endeavour to notify the customer as quickly as reasonably possible if a Force Majeure event occurs.
If the Force Majeure event prevents the company from providing the contractual goods or services the company, without limiting its other rights or remedies has the right to cancel the contract by giving written or verbal notice.
A Force Majeure event refers to an event beyond the reasonable control of the company including but not limited to; strikes, lock-outs or other industrial disputes (whether involving the workforce of the supplier or any other party), failure of a utility service or transport network, act of God, war, riot, civil commotion, malicious damage, compliance with any law or government order, rule, regulation or direction, accident, breakdown of plant or machinery, fire, flood, storm, inability to procure materials or articles except at increased prices or default of agents, suppliers or subcontractors.
Prices, what is included and what is not
Price shown on our website include UK sales tax (VAT) at the current rate. This will be removed for customers who reside outside the EU automatically at the check out stage. Delivery of goods is not included and will be calculated at the checkout stage. The exact delivery figure will depend on the weight of the parcel, if it contains hazardous goods or not and where it is to be sent. This will be determined automatically by the website at the check out stage and the final price displayed so the customer can accept or reject it. Note if the price is rejected the parcel will not be sent!
Technical assistance by telephone is not included in the price of parts. Where assistance is needed enquiries should be e-mailed to the technical team. Where a workshop manual is required, the customer is expected to arrange access to this documentation themselves and at their own expense.
Please contact us directly with any problems you have experienced, we are happy to rectify any problems quickly and listen to any feedback you have regarding our products. Refunds will be made in a timely manner and no later then 14 days after we receive the returned item. We do not monitor Internet forums hence you must speak to us directly via the phone, e-mail or letter.
If you believe the unit is faulty return it with a written description of the fault to our trading address. We will fully check and test the item. If no fault is found the item will be returned to you. If the unit is found to be faulty we will send a serviceable replacement as quickly as possible or offer a refund if the fault came to light within 30 days.
If the unit shows signs of abuse, improper fitting or adjustment, being used outside of its design limitations, modification, incorrect connection to an electrical system or any form of misuse or testing by un-authorised persons the item will not be replaced under warranty.
Only technician’s trained and approved by Rex’s Speed Shop are qualified to test or carry out any work to any of our products. Tests shown in OEM manuals for stock parts my not be applicable to our products. If we publish a testing guide for a product this should be followed. If an electronic device has been subjected to un-approved testing warranty is deemed to have been invalidated.
Warranty & Returns From Outside the EU
Please get in contact first. You MUST write on the CN22 Customs form “item returned to supplier under warranty” AND include a copy of the invoice to prove the item’s origin. Fill out the Country of origin as “UK” and enter the value as less then $10. Failure to do this may result in the package being returned to you by UK Customs and Excise for the paperwork to be corrected. This will cause considerable delay to your warranty claim (usually 6-10 weeks). Powder Mill Electronics Limited will not pay import duties on items returned under warranty nor can we process the claim until we receive the goods. Taking care to complete the Customs CN22 form correctly will ensure your warranty claim is processed quicker.
Incorrectly Ordered / Un-wanted Orders.
Where the right to cancel an rder does not apply, if the customer incorrectly ordered an item, returns and refunds are at our discretion. We reserve the right to make a charge to cover administration costs that this causes.
All goods remain property of Powder Mill Electronics Limited until full payment has been made. There is no period of credit, once an invoice has been raised and presented it is due for immediate payment. Completing an order with no payment will not hold or reserve goods nor will this infer any claim on the goods. Retail orders are only accepted by the company once they have paid for in full.
Incorrectly Supplied Items
We will send you the correct items at our cost and as quickly as possible and within 28 days.
Delivery of Goods
Parcels up to 2 Kilograms are sent via Royal Mail using recorded delivery where applicable, for certain products and those parcel above 2 KG we may choose to use a different courier. Delivery can be expected in 2-7 working days if the item is in stock. Goods will be sent within 28 days in any case. A signature will be required and the customer is responsible for ensuring that someone is available to accept and sign for the delivery.
Missed Delivery – Royal Mail
The Royal Mail will hold any undelivered parcel at a sorting office of their choosing, it is the customer’s responsibility to collect it from their depot or arrange for a re-delivery.
Missed Delivery – Courier delivery
Courier delivery includes 2 delivery attempts only, if they are not able to obtain a signature the parcel will be returned to us. The customer will have to pay additional fees before we will resend the parcel if both delivery attempts were missed. We can arrange for e-mail tracking to assist and show estimated delivery time at no extra cost if the customer provides us with a vaild e-mail address (not available from Royal Mail).
‘Next Day’ delivery only applies to items that are in stock. Next day means deliveries made Tuesday to Saturday. Our company is closed on Sundays so any orders placed will be processed on the next Monday for delivery on Tuesday. (Excludes English Bank Holidays)
Parcels up to 2 Kilograms are sent via Royal Mail Air Mail, where available we used a tracked service, please see the estimated delivery times below. Larger consignments and those of high value will be sent using an appropriate courier service (Normally Fedex).
Our standard delivery is calculated using the total weight of items in your shopping basket, whether hazardous goods are included requiring special handling or transport, and the geographical region the parcel is to be sent. Rates comprise postal cost, packing & (where applicable) VAT. If the total weight exceeds the upper weight limit different rates will apply and may not be calculated automatically by our website. The company reserves the right to refuse to ship at an automatically calculated priced displayed to the customer, in which case the comapny will contact the customer to resolve the issue in a timely manner. If you require a different delivery service you must e-mail us before placing your order. We are happy to make a parcel ready for collection by your own courier. We offer Fedex as optional services for parcels up to 25Kg and for hazourdous goods. Fedex charge different rates for different regions withing the UK and our rates will reflect this.
Installation/Fitting of Parts
All goods are supplied with the basis that they will be fitted by a qualified, competent person working with the latest revision of the OEM shop manual and service bulletins, using the correct tools and test equipment as required by the machine’s manufacturer.
Before operating a piece of machinery or operating a vehicle that has new or repaired parts fitted, either on road, off road or under racing condition you must confirm correct installation/fitting, set up, adjustment and correct operation in accordance with the OEM’s specifications. It is the responsibility of the person carrying out this work to ensure that the work is done to the correct standards using the machine’s shop manual and that all safety warnings and cautions are observed.
Adjustment of ignition timing and ensuring it is within safe parameters for the individual engine is the customer’s responsibility. This applies even on non adjustable ignition systems where other factors such as fuel type or quality, carburation settings or variations in model or modifications that are not apparant to the customer will have an effect on engine performance.
All fitting guides supplied by Powder Mill Electronics limited must be used in conjunction with the OEM bike manufacturer’s manual for the model. It is the responsibility of the person fitting the parts to ensure they have the correct technical data available. No part of any guide issued by the company over-rules safety precautions, warnings or cautions given in an OEM manual. You must refer to the OEM manual for safety precautions.
If any supplied part is modified, incorrectly fitted or adjusted, abused, used outside of its design limitations or used in an application that the part is not listed or intended for, the warranty becomes invalid. Powder Mill Electronics Ltd accept no liability of any misadventure, accident or injury in this case. Customers modifying their machines are solely responsible and liable for the modifications in the event of a misadventure, accident or loss of life.
Your statutory rights are not effected by any parts of our terms and conditions.

We are constantly seeking to improve our products and increase the range that we offer, we reserve the right to change specifications without notice. Occasionally products may vary in appearance from those shown on our web site.
Out of Stock Items
Stock levels shown on our website are not always accurate. Customers are able to place orders without using the website therfore stock levels shown on the website may take several days to be up-dated. When an item is unavailable we will contact you with a realistic estimated time of delivery and give you the option of cancellation and refund. If however the customer orders a part that is shown as out of stock, the customer must expect to wait until the item becomes available, again we will give you an estimate of when this will be.
Warranty applies to the customer who made the purchase from the company and is not transferable to another person or entity. Your invoice will be required in the event of a warranty claim, it is an important document and should be kept safely. Refunds under warranty will only be given on production of this document. Without proof of purchase from our company we will not entertain any warranty claim.
All warranty periods are base on elapsed calendar time from the date of purchase. We do not offer warranty on an ‘hours run’ basis. In all cases, the effective start date of the warranty is the invoice date.
Only technician’s trained and approved by Powder Mill Electronics Ltd are qualified to test or carry out any work to any of our products. Some tests given in the OEM shop manual may not be valid for our products. If any of our products have been subjected to un-approved testing or have been dis-assembled or worked on by technicians or other persons not approved by us, any warranty automatically becomes invalid.
New, repaired & reconditioned products supplied by Powder Mill Electronics Limited are covered by a one year warranty against faulty manufacture, repair and failure of the product*. This warranty does not cover defects caused by abuse, misuse, improper installation or adjustment or modification.
*Excludes items that have been tested and declared serviceable. Items sent for testing and declared serviceable are serviceable at that point in time, no warranty is given and no claims of continued serviceability are made or implied.
Powder Mill Electronics Ltd guarantees, to refund, repair or replace free of charge any goods found to our satisfaction to be defective within 30 days from the date of dispatch provided the item has not been damaged by inexpert fitment, fitted to a vehicle with a faulty electrical system, incorrectly adjusted, used with non OEM equipment, subjected to modification or abuse or been subjected to conditions beyond its specification. Customers in the UK have the right to demand a refund within the 30 day period if the goods are found to be faulty.
Customers returning new Items suspected to be faulty which are subsequently found to be working correctly and correctly manufactured must pay for the return postage plus workshop time to test the part at our normal rates.
Your statutory rights are not affected.
Limited liabily: All warranty claims are limited to the original retail price of that product or service. The buyer assumes responsibility for risks of any kind caused by themselves or any other party by virtue of faulty manufacture, failure, incorrect fitting, set up or adjustment of the product, Powder Mill Electronics Ltd will not be held responsible or liable for indirect or consequential damages. Where the buyer instructs a third party to fit parts supplied by Powder Mill Electronics Ltd, all liability for costs resulting from this contract are solely the responsibility of the person issuing the instructions to undertake said work or works. By making a purchasing from Powder Mill Electronics Ltd you show your acceptance to these terms.
“Original equipment” with be the part as supplied by the machine manufacturer in their packaging.
“OEM” (Original Equipment Manufacturer) are parts made by other companies and supplied to the machine’s manufacturer when it was first built. These are supplied direct from the manufacturer in their own packing but are the same as original parts. For example PVL HT Coils are standard equipment on many Hinckley Triumphs and when you buy from a Triumph dealer you get a PVL coil.
“Pattern or replacement” parts are parts made by other companies and may vary in appearance but should perform the same or very similiar function.
UK Sales Tax (VAT) & Import Duty
Prices shown include UK/EU sales tax. Customers from outside of the EU will not pay this tax. Our website automatically removes this from your order when you enter a valid non EU address. The delivery address must be the same Country as the billing address.
You should be aware that Import Duty may be charged by Customs & Excise in your Country. We are required to fill out a Customs Declaration and provide a shipping invoice along with the goods we send.
European VAT Registered Companies.
We will send goods VAT free to EU VAT registered companies. Before we accept an order from a tax registered company we require an official Purchase Order showing the Company’s registered address & tax and banking details. These will be checked against HM Customs European Companies tax register. Once approved goods will be supplied free of UK VAT. A minimum order of £100 (ex VAT) applies, if the order value is below this total we will charge a handling fee.
Additional Terms and Conditions for Exchange Parts
When you purchase an overhauled part you agree that you have read and understood the following Terms & Conditions in addition to our standard terms:
The failed part must be sent us before we send out a repaired item.
The price shown for an overhauled item is only the price for the work carried out to repair that part. It does not include the initial cost of buying the item. This is referred to an “exchange” part sale.
The failed part becomes the property of Powder Mill Electronics Ltd at the time it passes the exchange inspection and the payment has cleared. The customer must also understand that the failed part may not be returned to them after this point.
In the case of a partially repaired item the warranty applies to just the repaired section of the repaired unit.
If we reject a part sent in for exchange the customer must pay the postage cost if the item is to be returned to them.
We will not keep an overhauled part on hold for more than 30 days, even if fully paid for. If we get no contact from a customer and the part fails to arrive within the 30 day period we will cancel the sale and refund to the same account as any payment was made from. The 30 day period starts from when we receive payment. For overseas customers ONLY we will extend this period by an additional 15 days to allow time for shipping time & customs clearance.
Running clearances must be checked when assembling generators. Damage caused by running the engine with the wrong clearance is not covered under warranty as this is damage caused by incorrect assembly. If the clearance is wrong the item can be returned un-damaged for re-work. In most cases clearance is adjusted by the person assembling the parts.
We will not be held responsible for any losses incurred due to actual stock levels differing from those shown on the website.
We reserve the right to change our decision once we receive a part if our offer of an acceptance for exchange was made on the basis of a photograph or verbal description of the item, where we did not have the opportunity to physically inspect the item in person.
The displayed price includes UK sales tax. Customers outside the EU do not pay this and it will be deducted from the displayed sale price. In this case the core price refund is also exclusive of VAT.
The customer is liable for any import taxes that are applied to an item sent to us from outside the EU. Any additional costs must be paid for in full before we will send a repaired part back and will be added to the final bill.
Our decision is final in all disputes over the condition of parts submitted for exchange or the value of a core.
Work Shop Services
All repair work or overhauls are charged based on the amount of time spent carrying out the work at the current hourly rate.
If we offer a fixed priced repair or service, it is on the condition that the basic structure of the item under repair is sound. We reserve the right to refuse to start or continue with a repair on a fixed price basis if we find the unit needs work outside of the normal repair scope. In this case we will contact the customer to discuss the problem and additional work or parts that are needed.
We always aim to carry out work and return parts quickly. We are a small family company with a limited number of trained personal, at busy times waiting times may be extended due to insufficent man hours available to complete the work. We will always warn you if there will be a long lead time.
Re-fitting of repaired & fitting of new rotating assemblies
Any person refitting a repaired or new stator or generator is required to check that the running clearance between rotating and stationary parts is correct before the engine is run. We are not liable for damage caused by forceful assembly or running the engine with incorrectly set clearance. Such damage is also not covered under our own or statutory warranty. In the absence of manufacturer’s information a clearance of 0.2 – 0.8 mm should be set between stationary and rotating parts. The person assembling the generator is solely responsible for checking the unit is correctly assembled.
Only technician’s trained and approved by Powder Mill Electronics Ltd are qualified to test or carry out any work to any of our products. Some tests given in the OEM shop manual may not be valid for our products. If any of our products have been subjected to un-approved testing or have been tampered with by technicians or other persons not approved by us, all warranty automatically becomes invalid.
Items sent for testing by us and declared serviceable are serviceable at that point in time, no warranty is given and no claims of continued serviceability are given or implied.
